A Delray Beach travertine pool deck repair addressing sinking stone, root pressure and hidden drainage conditions around the outdoor living area.
The Problem
This Delray Beach pool deck had localized travertine settlement and uneven areas that interrupted the walking surface around the pool. Movement near landscaping and a concealed drainage path made the condition more complicated than a simple surface-level reset. Because much of the existing stone remained reusable, the project called for a selective pool deck repair that could preserve the established material while correcting the active trouble spots.
What We Found
Lifting the affected travertine exposed the conditions below the deck. Root growth had displaced support in one area, while another section required careful coordination around hidden downspout drainage. These discoveries explained why isolated stones had shifted. They also confirmed that resetting the visible low spots without removing the interference and rebuilding support would have left the original cause in place.
What We Did
Palm Beach Pavers documented the pattern, lifted and staged reusable travertine, removed the roots and loose material affecting the repair zones, and prepared the base for the proper finished elevation. Work around the concealed drainage line was completed without losing the intended water path. The saved stone was then relaid to reconnect with the surrounding deck, with special attention to walking transitions, pool-edge alignment and the natural variation of the existing travertine.
The Result
The completed pool deck is more even and comfortable underfoot, and the repaired sections integrate with the surrounding stone instead of looking like unrelated patches. The project also left the contributing drainage condition accessible within the repair plan. It demonstrates why pool deck repair should begin with diagnosis: roots, runoff and support below the pavers often matter as much as the stone visible on top.
Materials / Repair Method
Existing exterior travertine was reused where sound. Prepared base material, compatible replacement stone where needed and fresh joint material supported the repaired areas while retaining the pool deck’s established appearance.
